Kybella™ Overview

Kybella™ offers a non-surgical solution for reducing double chins through targeted injections in the submental area. This treatment works by safely breaking down excess fat cells, gradually enhancing the contours of your neck, and improving your facial profile. During your consultation, we will assess if Kybella® is the ideal option for you and determine the necessary sessions to achieve your desired aesthetic results.

How Kybella™ Works

Kybella™ is injected under the skin, specifically targeting fat deposits in that area. Its active ingredients are designed to break down fat cells in the treated region. Once these cells are broken down, the body’s immune system kicks in, sending macrophages to the area. These macrophages are essential for cleaning up by engulfing and removing the cellular debris. Additionally, they attract fibroblasts, which are responsible for producing new collagen by forming connective tissue. By permanently eliminating these fat cells, Kybella® significantly reduces the chances of fat building up under the chin again. This leads to a tightening of the skin in the area, gradually diminishing the appearance of a double chin and creating a more sculpted and defined chin line.

Benefits of a Kybella™

Non-Invasive Option: Kybella™ provides a non-surgical alternative for those looking to enhance their chin profile, unlike traditional surgical methods.

Quick Recovery: With minimal downtime, patients can swiftly resume their everyday activities, making Kybella™ an ideal choice for individuals with hectic lifestyles.

Personalized Treatment: Each Kybella™ session is customized to meet the unique patient’s needs, ensuring natural-looking results.

Durable Outcomes: Once the fat cells are targeted and eliminated, they do not regenerate, offering long-lasting improvements.

What is Kybella™?

KYBELLA is the first and only FDA-approved injectable for contouring the face and improving the look of submental fullness. KYBELLA is made from deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring chemical in the body, used to help absorb fats. Injected directly into the fatty tissue underneath the chin, KYBELLA targets and destroys individual fat cells. The treatment can restore a youthful, sculpted chin. KYBELLA offers patients a noninvasive improvement, with little risk for infection or other complications.

How is Kybella™ Used?

Once the target area has been identified, and the extent of correction required, a series of tiny injections will be applied underneath the chin. Each KYBELLA session takes minutes to perform, and patients generally report only mild discomfort.

A series of three to six KYBELLA sessions will be required for optimum results; the exact number will depend on the individual patient’s aesthetic needs. Each treatment should be spaced approximately four weeks apart. Once the desired results have been achieved, no additional treatment sessions are necessary. The results from KYBELLA are long-lasting.

Who is a Candidate For Kybella™?

Anyone over 18, who is frustrated with excess fatty tissue below their chin, may find that KYBELLA can be beneficial. The ideal candidate for KYBELLA will be in overall good health, have a full understanding of the treatment, and have realistic expectations for their results. Patients of all skin types and ethnicities can enjoy the benefits of KYBELLA. However, those with an active infection, are pregnant, or have a bleeding disorder should postpone their KYBELLA treatment.

Schedule a Personal Kybella™ Cosultation

Before starting treatments with KYBELLA, a one-on-one consultation will be scheduled. At this time, a physical examination of the facial anatomy will be performed. We will explain the benefits and limitations of KYBELLA, as well as all other potential treatments for restoring facial contours and improving submental fullness. If KYBELLA is determined to be the best procedure to meet the patient’s goals, then a personalized treatment plan will be created.

Risks and Complications of Kybella™

KYBELLA is considered safe and effective. While complications are extremely rare, possible side effects include swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, difficulty swallowing, and nerve injury. Most of the initial redness, minor swelling, and bruising will diminish the first few days after a KYBELLA treatment.

Actual Results With Kybella™

The benefits of KYBELLA treatment can be seen after as few as two treatments. The injectable will target and permanently destroys the fat cells in the treatment area. The small needles used during a KYBELLA treatment are virtually painless. Our experienced staff at The Center are trained with the most advanced injection techniques available. There is no downtime required after the KYBELLA procedure. Patients are back to their usual routine the same afternoon.

Before, During, and After

What to Expect Before Kybella™

Before your Kybella™ treatment, you’ll have a consultation with one of our injectable specialists in Neenah and Plover. During this session, we’ll discuss your goals and concerns about submental fat and evaluate if Kybella™ is right for you. We’ll create a personalized treatment plan outlining how many sessions are needed and the expected results. You’ll also receive pre-treatment instructions, such as avoiding blood thinners, alcohol, and certain supplements to minimize bruising.

What to Expect During Kybella™

Expect multiple small injections under your chin during your

Kybella™ procedure. You can typically notice visible results a few weeks after the treatment. This time allows your body to process and eliminate the destroyed fat cells. Each session takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. The number of injections meeded depends on your submental fat and aesthetic goals. Ice compresses will be used immediately afterward to enhance comfort and minimize swelling.

What to Expect After Kybella™

After receiving Kybella™ injections, you may notice swelling in the upper neck due to inflammation and the deoxycholic acid not yet absorbed by your fat cells. This swelling typically lasts about five days. Once the acid breaks down the chin’s fat cells, they won’t store fat again, making the results permanent. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle post-treatment helps preserve your new look.
